Methodology Details

Identical dried decomposed granite material samples were blended with Organic-Lock, One of the leading organic binders on the market (in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications), as well as the Loose aggregate on its own (i.e. no binder added).

1.

Each sample was homogeneously mixed and combined with 12% water by weight.

2.

Pressed firmly into the sample container.

3.

Compacted with a custom hydraulic compressor to consolidate the material.

4.

Allowed to dry in an incubator for 24 hours at 30°C.

5.

The samples were then weighed and recorded.

6.

The samples were then placed in the rainfall simulator and tested for 120 minutes.

7.

Prior to testing, the rainfall simulator was calibrated to ensure that all samples received the same amount of simulated rain.

8.

After only 20 minutes the unstabilzed loose aggregate washes out to completion.

9.

After 90 minutes, it’s clear that the competitor product has lost a significant amount of aggregate.

10.

The samples were then placed in the rainfall simulator and tested for 120 minutes.

11.

Once the simulation was complete, the samples were dried, weighed and the amount of material lost during the simulation was calculated.
